DATES

24.10.2021 | HÄLT UNS WACH

Spatial music theatre // Pathos and Halle 6 // Munich

The end of the world has become easier for us to imagine than the end of capitalism. This thesis coined the term capitalist realism, with which the British cultural scientist Mark Fisher examined the present of the noughties and tens.

In the durational performance Hält uns wach, the audience experiences four days of a late capitalist everyday life alone. They are at breakfast, at work, with their family, in the theater. But they don't live through these days as protagonists, but look past the absent main character. Between the rounds of the day, the audience spends the time in another place, where they experience the evenings of the days. Here they are not alone, but in company. Late at night emptiness finds its way into the day tunnel, outside is a new, but quite hungover, world awakening.

We sweat like critters. We're critters that sweat and slurp. We sip nectar from our hands. And then we say goodbye to our hands. We do not mourn them. Bodies change. They have already mutated. In the end, nothing will compare to the radical mutations that are to come.
